Got a pile of pressies you didn’t want? List them on eBay or even network sites such as Facebook or Gumtree, where listings are free, and make cash out of them.  A good tip for using eBay is to sell smaller items first in order to build up your seller’s profile so that people will be happier to buy pricey items off you later on.

2. Rent your driveway

3. Rent your room

4. Sell your old mobile phone

5. Switch all your comms to one cheap deal

New year means new deals and combining your television, broadband and phone can save you money. Sky has some great deals for the new year, with basic packages costing as little as £16 a month for phone, internet and television.  Why pay more? 6. Get a free overdraft

7. Beat rising food prices
