Create Webpages

One of the most popular sites in the US is Squidoo.  It is a site where people create a lens (their own webpage) on their favourite topic.  The site then makes money from advertisers and links.  It then pays 5% of its profits to charity, retains 45% to cover its admin costs, which leaves 50% of the profits for the writer or the charity of their choice.  So get started writing about any of your favourite topics, it is free to set up and you can start earning some royalties.

If you have a talent for writing and want to get paid for it then visit Pay Per Post.  You have to submit samples and they must first be approved, but if they are you could earn as much as £10 a post.

Streetcar

Streetcar employs teams including students to promote their brand on the street, especially in London. You can even ride a bike covered in their advertising around London for £8 an hour, stopping occasionally to promote the brand. The shift times are 10:00am to 4:30pm with occasional extended hours, and they request that you're physically fit, fun, and confident in promoting their brand. To become a team leader on the foot based street teams, you can earn £10 an hour. They ask for a minimum commitment of 25 hours per week which can be spread over a seven day period. We asked Streetcar how best to find their street team work, and they said keep an eye on websites such as gumtree.com and promojobspro.com.

After school nannies
If you're looking for some part time nanny work, you can just be an after school nanny so it doesn't take up your whole day. You'd be responsible for picking up the children from school at around 3pm and then taking them home and looking after them until their parents get home from work. The job involves supervising homework and playtime, preparing tea and ferrying the children around to any after-school activities they take part in. After-school nannies have to have at least 2 years of childcare experience, but no formal qualifications or age limits apply. For more information have a look at the After School Nannies website, or their post on Jobs Grapevine.

Chugging round the country
Spring is here and the 'chuggers' (charity fundraisers) are definitely in bloom! Several charities are looking for people to stand on the street and persuade passers-by to pay monthly amounts to their charity. You can earn between £8.50-11 an hour, on average, and the work is flexible. It involves being outside and meeting people, of course, but you could get a lot of abuse from pedestrians. There are several commercial organisations that run 'chugger' campaigns but they keep a percentage of the money raised. Better to work direct for the charity if you would like to do this. Just a few of the organisations looking for fundraisers directly are Shelter, Concern and Everychild.

Earn money with your mobile
This sounds like some sort of telemarketing job, but actually Noodle.co.uk pays you money just for making the calls to your friends and family that you would make on your mobile normally - get 2p per minute for peak calls and 1p for off-peak calls. Noodle either works alongside your normal contract, or you can get a Noodle Sim card. You can also save loads on international and roaming calls as Noodle is permanently roaming and therefore doesn't charge you the extortionate rates that most mobile providers in the UK do. Noodle also has a referral bonus and you can earn 1p for every minute that someone you've referred spends on their phone.

To register, text the world NOODLE to 81025. You will then receive a Noodle number and password which you use to log in at www.noodle.co.uk and they will tell you exactly what you need to do to start earning. Your earnings are paid directly into your bank account leaving you to do whatever you like with them. Do check out with your network provider before you start using the service, as sometimes Noodle doesn't work with free minutes bundles.

Become a Mobile Caterer

We know what you're thinking... horrible burger vans at cheesy events, but actually mobile catering with MJR Tom actually involves walking around at events at all the major london stadiums and football clubs, as well as stadiums around the country and all the major british racecourses, and selling whatever it is you are told to sell.  MJR Tom say that the most common product they sell is beer and the most common receptacle they use is a rucksack, so you won't be lugging around bikes with icecream freezers on them or anything.  Once you've got a stock of your product you can then wander around, enjoy the event and sell your product.  You are paid a minimum wage base rate and then can earn commission on top of that depending how many of your product you sell, which does give you motivation to try and sell as much as possible.  Most of the events are during evenings or weekends so it's something you can do in your spare time if you work and hopefully the events themselves should be pretty enjoyable.  However carrying liquids can get pretty heavy, so it's not a job for those who haven't got the strength to lug around a heavy load on their back. MJR Tom hold interviews every Thursday.
