Which is the lowest priced supermarket?

June 17, 2012

Asda has been named Britain’s Lowest Priced Supermarket at The Grocer Gold Awards – the Oscars of the food and drink industry – for the 15th year running.

They were also named Britain’s Favourite Supermarket for the second year in a row.

The title of Britain’s Lowest Priced Supermarket is based on a survey carried out by The Grocer magazine every week comparing the prices of 33 everyday items across all the main supermarkets.  It found Asda was best for price 37 weeks out of 50. Judges said it was a ‘record 37 wins for Asda’.

I don’t have an Asda near me and they don’t deliver to my area, which is a shame, but I do like to shop there when possible.

I still like street markets best but much of the time supermarkets are the most convenient *sigh*.

Even the cheapest – or rather, the best value (cheap isn’t always cheerful when it comes to food) – places still cost a lot when it comes to feeding the family, though.

We’ve got a lot of ways to feed your family for less here, including buying in bulk and shopping at markets.

Not only that, but if you would like some really cheap and easy recipes for the family, download our food blogger, Sarah Lockett’s, recipe book here. It’s full of tasty, easy, cheap recipes.
