Wonder if anyone can advise me on this. I have an MBNA credit card which I took out with them online in October 2005. I recently read on the site about the criteria for reclaiming this and thought I'd write to them and ask. I used the templates from the site. My complaint was that the PPI would be of no use to me as I already have a pre-existing medical condition. At the time of my application for the card (as I say it was online) I was never asked about pre-existing conditions or whether I had benefit cover from my employer if I became unemployed. I received a reply to my letter yesterday saying that they would cancel the PPI from November but that I was not entitled to any refund. Is it worth my while writing a second letter to them and what should I say in this?
New to the site so please excuse this long winded question.
Thanks
Hi Jakesnana,
I've heard that it's quite difficult to get your PPI cancelled from your card and lots of banks kick up a big fuss and won't let you get that far, so I think you've done a pretty good job so far in cancelling it.
One of the girls in the office also applied for an MBNA card about a month ago, and she was asked about PPI in her application. Of course, MBNA has many different cards and hers could have gone through a different application online.
I'm not sure what kind of refund you are after. To give you any further help I'd have to know exactly which MBNA card you applied for, but you would have to have good grounding to go further and ask for a refund.
Are you absolutely sure there was no mention of the PPI during the application process, or in the Privacy Statement and Terms and Conditions that are read at the time of application?
