Angry     help in emigrating can cost you dearly

whilst watching the GMTV programme recently it had an article about the need for trades people in Alberta Canada. With some interest I looked up a company on the net that were local to me to see about the viability of an emigration with my new wife to Canada.

They asked me if I wanted to come for a relaxed chat and consultation in their office in South Manchester.

Yes I thought why not? after some brief exchanges of emails as to my suitability I arranged an out of normalbusiness hours meeting with their consultant and my wife and I. I paid £20 for this office time and duely arrived.

Far from a relaxed interview it turned out to be a 1.5hour hard sell that resulted in a signed contract to the value of £5k don't let yourself be fooled. DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING ON THEIR PREMISES!!!!

Quite right! That does sound dodgy.

Actually, it's a really good point about signing contracts. Apparently, if you sign a contract in the offices of whatever company wants you to sign, then you don't get the 7-day 'cooling off' period that you get with contracts that you sign off their premises. This is why a lot of companies, particularly dodgy loans companies, insist that you come into their offices to sign.

Don't do it! Say that you want to go away and think about it and take the form with you. If they say no then you will know that it's a bad idea.
