How often do you check the gas or electricity meter?
Do you ever check you're paying the right amount for your fuel bills? Have you claimed money back from the gas or electricity company?
Confused? This article explains how you could be paying too much for your energy bills:

I would endorse that.
It seems that the supply companies only read a meter once a year and base everything else on estimates.
I come across people who have a debt or credit with their supply company. Having them owe you a hundred quid or so is quite good - but it's your money! If they are not billing you enough and you owe them they insist the "balance" is paid when you try to switch suppliers. This can stop people switching and saving more money.
