I have just switched from British Gas. I really do not know if I have saved any money but I dont really care. What I have saved myself is constant demands for money I dont owe and all the hassle that goes with trying to explain the problem to incompetent people who simply do not believe what you are saying. You never can get the same one twice. Anyway, all is now well and if BG decide to give the stuff away I will not go back!! So There - another dissatisfied customer to be proud of.

Having just admitted to being lazy elsewhere on the boards , this is one thing I do summon up the energy to do reguarly and, as all the energy providers are putting their tarrifs up again at the moment, I will be sniffing around for a better deal over the next month or so. Having said that last time was a bit stressful  -  my new provider took forever to transfer me over and I was so frustrated that I complained to Energywatch and got  £30.00 to cover my phonecalls. Plus I used a transfer service which credited me with an extra £20 for using them. I think this is well worth doing and for what it's worth the cheapest type of account always seems to be the paperless online type. Plus - final tip - before you do change ring up your current priovider and tell them that you're thinking of moving and they may offer you a better tariff which you weren't aware of.

I have tried to switch providers before but was sent a massive bill from my present provider- how can I avoid paying that?

Very Happy     With the Utility Warehouse
Dotted Line

We are with the Utility Warehouse for gas and electricity, along with our broadband, landline, calls and mobile phone. They put everything on one bill and direct debit which in convenient + we make some good savings as members of their Utility Warehouse Discount Club. They claim to save the average household just short of £500 per year, although we seem to be saving much more than this. Previously with British Gas for our energy and Virgin for the other stuff. We get free calls 24/7 to any 01 or 02 telephone number because we have four services, plus they are about to send us a free laptop to go with our broadband. Like the savings, like the customer service, like the simplicity of one direct debit.
