Hope all is well, just needed to vex my anger!!!! L I have been on and off suffering with a pain in my upper jaw for a while, been backwards and forwards to the dentist and I have had treatment done just temporary fillings though!

Anyway in the end my dentist referred me to KingsCollegeHospital to see a specialist, so anyway I went to see the specialist, who (to cut a long story short) told me that I needed 6 lots of route canal treatments !!!! not good news but they did say that if I had it done there by the students it wouldn’t cost me anything (good news) !!! but the obvious bad news is that I will have to have 16 appointment because the students work slowly, or alternatively I can try and get it done in the chair at a dentist!

So anyway I went to the dentist (NHS)  this morning and they wouldn’t treat me under the NHS!!!!! Only privately in fact he told me that no dentist would cover me under the NHS, even if I took out Private Dental Insurance that wouldn’t cover me either!!! Its just a real bad joke, so anyway I asked him how much it would cost me and he said around about £2,000.00 I felt physically sick ! what has happened to the NHS dental treatment, I feel like sending a letter to the Prime Minister!!! L I am not a happy bunny!

I suppose the moral of this story is I shouldn’t have eaten so many sweeties when I was little !!!!! L

Dentists costs can be seriously expensive. But I've got a friend who is doing a dentistry degree and from what she'd said, I think that going to the dental school is actually a pretty good option. There is always a senior consultant present, so there's no need to worry about the quality of the care. It will take longer, but you might be able to work this around your schedule.

I guess you just need to work out how much money you are not going to earn by missing time at work. If it is less than £2000 then it's probably worth it, even though 16 hours in the dentists chair sounds really scary!

There are other ideas in the article on moneymagpie that might contribute to the cost. Here's the URL:

Hope this helps and good luck!
