On BBC’s Working Lunch today I was talking about the various things you could rent to make money – or in order to save money. There are loads of them as we show in our article on renting anything.

It’s definitely the way to go for both making and saving money.

Make money by renting out your driveway. Try Parklet or Parkatmyhouse (Parklet are offering users £20 if they refer a friend to the service). Or if you’re looking for a cheap place to park, go on either site and park in someone’s home rather than the expensive NCP places.

Then think of renting other stuff. RentNotBuy lets you rent out absolutely anything without paying a penny – it could be a ballgown, a baby bath or buckets and spades! You can also try Zilok which is again fee free and covers a broad spectrum of items. 

The idea of renting things out also makes me think of sharing stuff with friends and neighbours. That’s another great way to save, particularly when it comes to power tools or even cars and caravans.
