THE QUESTION

My bank adviser forged a document that resulted in me paying £000's ppi. I complained about the forgery 6 months ago but received no reply or compensation for the forgery/fraud. It eventually affected my credit rating. What can I do? Can I sue for compensation for the fraud?

Terry Carter, Coventry

THE ANSWER

This definitely sounds like one for the Financial Ombudsman. I think you should take it to them.

It sounds to me as though someone has ticked a box for PPI, you have then complained to the bank but received no reply.

Generally the way to complain about these things is to go to the bank first, but in this case it seems the bank either hasn't replied or has turned you down? In that case, the best thing to do is to speak to the financial ombudsman. They have a very good track record on these matters.
