Send a CV, covering letter explaining why you would like to do work experience with Moneymagpie and what you would like to learn from it, and a recent writing sample of approx 400 words on the topic of your choice (you may choose either to write something in the style of the website or submit a piece you have had published elsewhere). Which skills and experience are we looking for?

Ideally you should be able to demonstrate that you:

• Can write logically and clearly, with good grammar and spelling
• Are computer literate/ familiar with the internet (journalism interns don’t need technical web skills)
• Are organised
• Have a good telephone manner

Useful experience:

One or both of the following would be helpful:

• Journalism – preferably research-based rather than creative writing. This may be through student journalism, writing for other websites or other work experience
• Sales/customer service/other jobs that have involved dealing with other businesses and/or members of the public

Interns are encouraged to contribute ideas and, where appropriate, take an active part in all aspects of the site in which they are interested.

The normal length of a placement is two weeks. Interns are not required to sign a contract and are free to leave at any time, although obviously we’d prefer it if you didn’t disappear without even saying goodbye.

Our normal office hours are 10am-6pm, Monday-Friday, although we can offer some flexibility within this if necessary. You will not be expected to undertake work experience for more than 40 hours a week (including meal breaks).  

We do want to make it as easy as possible for people to do work experience with us. We will usually provide lunch and will pay reasonable travel expenses.Lunch will usually be provided on the premises.

Central London. If appropriate, you may be also offered the chance to attend meetings/trade events outside the office.
