So, you want to help the planet and you want to make money. The good news is that it’s possible and there are plenty of ways to do it. With a little creativity and passion, it’s entirely possible to be a green entrepreneur. Here’s how to make money while helping the planet.

Develop Green Technologies

While technology can certainly be harmful to the planet, there are ways to use technology to improve the health of the earth and make you extra money. Some examples include: building apps that help people be more eco-friendly, funding products that improve the quality of soils where food is grown, and creating a green banking alternative that supports eco-friendly initiatives.

Create a Planet-Friendly Product Line

There are many products out there that are developed using less than eco-friendly practices. Whether it’s cleaning products, makeup, or even children’s toys, creating a planet-friendly product line is a great way to make money. You can easily start small by selling to your community and then building a following online.

Resell Gently Used Products

Do you have a knack for finding baby items, furniture, and other high-demand products for cheap or low prices? If so, you can make extra money by reselling these things. Some people just throw away their old things because they can’t be bothered doing anything with them. You might find great treasures in curb alerts, after garage sales, and other online venues that you can then fix up and resell. Many make a good living transforming old furniture pieces into something more useful. This helps keep good items out of the landfill and money in your pocket.

Recycle Metal

There is a lot of money to be made in metal recycling. You can make a lot of money and save large appliances and other metals from being tossed into landfills with a little hard work and ingenuity. Start a business by picking up people’s old appliances and metals that they just want to have taken away. You’ll make money on the scrap metal when you bring it to the right location. The person tossing the metal won’t necessarily have to pay anything because you’ll make money hauling off their stuff when you get to the metal recycling facility.

Grow Plants

You can start your own tree nursery or make seedlings for garden vegetables or sell flowering bushes. All of these plant-growing enterprises will not only earn you money, but they are also planet-friendly. Growing more trees helps the environment in so many ways. You can replant in areas where trees were cut down or sell to locals to ensure not too many greenhouse gasses get emitted from far travels. Growing plants also means that you can sell off the fruits of your labor and earn money that way as well.

Declutter Your Home

Whether you use an app to offload things you aren’t using anymore, or you have a good old-fashioned garage sale, there is good money to be made in decluttering your home. You’ll not only enjoy some peace of mind from cleaning up your environment, but you’ll also get some extra money. This planet-friendly habit helps you make money on things you don’t use anymore.

Take Advantage of Energy Efficient Rebates

When you invest in eco-friendly appliances for your home, upgrade to solar power, or embrace other eco-friendly upgrades within your home, you may qualify for rebates or other tax incentives. There are many programs out there designed to help people make more planet-friendly choices by rewarding them for doing so. You can even remodel your home using planet-friendly materials and practices and earn extra on those improvements. It’s important to do your research before you make any assumptions to ensure you follow all the directions to receive the rebates.
