How would you like to get paid £10K to vlog your way around Britain, using a 16-25 Railcard, with one of your friends?
If you’re aged 16-25 or a mature student, then you’re in luck. National Rail is recruiting for a new Chief Adventure Officer.
Yes, this is a real job!
During the year the public will be given the chance to vote for the location and activity you, the CAO, experiences. This could be anything from Gyroplaning in Carlisle, going on the longest zipwire in Snowdonia, to uncovering hidden gems on a graffiti tour in Bristol. The possibilities are endless.
And, because National Rail also works in partnership with the train companies in Europe, their new employee will also find themselves Interrailing around Europe in the summer.
“At this time of year people are starting to think about all of the places they want to visit, and all of the things they want to achieve in 2018,” said Jyoti Bird, Director at National Rail. “January is also a popular time for people to start thinking about their next career move. We wanted to combine the two, which is why we are offering someone the opportunity to inspire others to explore more of Britain, in a fun and exciting way.”
“Our new Chief Adventure Officer needs to be someone who lives to discover new places, and has a desire to share their experiences with others. They need to be adventurous, passionate about travel and good at creating content so they can bring their journeys to life for others.”
“Railcards, which are managed by National Rail on behalf of the train companies, help customers save 1/3 on most rail fares in Britain. Earlier this month ONS stats revealed that only 22% of 16-24 year olds are employed and in full-time education. By helping reduce the cost of travel for those aged 16-25 they are then able to look further afield for education, training and jobs.”
If you’re aged between 16-25 or a mature student, and think you’ve got what it takes to become National Rail’s next Chief Adventure Officer, then all you need to do is create a 60sec video about your last trip and submit it on the 16-25 Railcard website before Sunday 11th February 2018. T&Cs apply.
Let us know if you have any luck. We love hearing from you.
