Yes! An online services marketplace, Bark.com has launched the first professional wingman and wingwoman service which employs people to offer their dating advice and wooing techniques.
Even though research shows that 1 in 5 people now meet their future spouse online, ReportLinker.com highlights that 12% of people still meet their partner on a night out and that love at first sight is not dead!
As Bark.com highlights, sometimes people need the confidence of an expert to help them make their move and that’s where the pros come in.
Kai Feller, co-founder of Bark.com, said,
“We’ve received hundreds of requests this year looking for dating professionals on the platform. The main reason we’ve seen is that online dating isn’t working for them and/or their friends are all coupled up and can’t help them anymore.
“The main point of Bark.com is for members of the public to be able to find local services that they need in an easy way. If our users want a new service added, we’ll strive to find a way to do this and I’m happy we’re launching this new service to accommodate their needs.”
A professional wingman or wingwoman would be required to accompany their client out to bars and clubs or social gatherings and would get paid to have FUN!
The key responsibility of the wingman or wingwoman would be to build their client’s confidence and introduce them to potential dating partners.
Bark.com recommends beginning the service with a preliminary meet up session to discuss the client’s dating preferences, relationship history and anything else of note before the first big night out.
That night out would be tailored by the wingman or wingwoman to suit the style and personality of the client and so would require a good knowledge of local bars, clubs and even places such as bowling alleys or beaches.
Pioneering professionals can make it easy for clients by specifying the geographical radius in which they would like to work and this can range from 5 to 50 miles from their home address.
Professionals need to remember, though, that it’s important they don’t have too much fun and that they keep their eye on the ball as they themselves are not allowed to flirt or try to get dates themselves whilst out with clients.
As with all Bark.com services providers, professionals have the opportunity to set their own prices but Bark.com say that they expect wingmen and wingwomen to earn on average a rate of around £30 per hour.
Not bad when you get to sip cocktails and have a bit of a boogey at the same time!
