London is one of the biggest and most important commercial centers in the world as millions of people make the most of the capital’s resources to chase their dreams.

People from all over the world come to the big smoke to take in the attractions and attempt to make a living from the vast opportunities.

The possibilities are endless when it comes to the number of jobs you can apply for as a significant amount of the UK economy is based in the South East, so it’s once of the best places to earn money.

However, if you already have a job but don’t have enough money to spend a little extra on yourself, it can be difficult to find a job which you can fit around the 9-5.

That’s why we’ve done the hard work for you and found five of the best ways to make MORE money in London.

New Year’s Event Staff

As a Londoner, you’ll know how busy New Year’s Eve is, as millions of people from around the UK and inside the city, congregate on the banks of the Thames to take in the fireworks and dance the night away.

But to coordinate the operation, a small army of police and event staff are required, which is where you could step in.

Wages for people working on National Holidays is usually double or triple the going rate, which means you could pocket a nice holiday bonus if you decide to work in London on New Year’s Eve.

A range of seasonal and New Years jobs are listed here if you would like to apply today.

Winter wonderland

In less than a month, London’s Winter Wonderland will open its gates in Hyde Park, welcoming thousands to the ice rinks, bars, German beer halls and mulled wine specialists.

The central London festival runs for several weeks and there are hundreds of jobs currently being advertised for the big event.

Running every evening during the week and over the weekend, you can make some additional income just as Christmas rolls around.

Winter Wonderland is perfect for students in London as it’s based right in the heart of the city, meaning the transport links are excellent.

Museum night work

As businesses look to diversify their offerings and offer new services and products to an evolving consumer market, some of the UK’s most famous attractions have begun to follow suit.

The Natural History museum, based in the luxury surroundings of Kensington, is one such place.

The museum is one of the most well known attractions in London, drawing in hundreds of thousands of visitors each year.

However, in an effort to increase engagement with the exhibitions, the museum has started to run exclusive night events, allowing visitors to view all of the historic treasures in the dark.

Furthermore, you can now enjoy a sleepover in the great hall and experience a night like no other beneath the skeleton of a blue whale!

Now, as you can imagine, the additional events require staff to work outside of normal working hours, so if you’re looking to make more of your time in the evening, this may be the perfect opportunity to earn some extra income and increase your knowledge of the natural world.

Referee 5-a-side football

Throughout London, there are thousands of sports games every day, where amateur teams play against each other for fun – though far too many take it far too seriously!

But all of those games need to be kept clean and fair, so a referee is present for every game.

Referees simply have to stand on the side lines if the sport is something like 5-a-side football as the pitch is so small, meaning you can make a nice little packet of money for blowing a whistle a few times a week.

There are football leagues in Camden, Shoreditch, Embankment, Brixton, Clapham, Acton and throughout London, so you won’t find it hard to find a ref’s job.

Search Facebook for odd-job groups

Facebook is a weird and wonderful place and there is more opportunity than most people realise on the platform.

Facebook groups are a resource that you may be able to use to your advantage, especially by using localised searches.

For example, if you live in Wimbledon and you’re looking to make a bit of extra money, you could search ‘Wimbledon community group’ and you may come across a group packed full of local residents who post odd jobs and items to sell.

There are literally thousands of these groups based in London and joining as many as possible will mean you get to cherry pick some of the best jobs going if you have the time.
