Their pay packets might seem way out of our reach, but even some of the most famous fictional characters couldn’t afford the London property market according to new research.
Canstar, Australia’s biggest financial comparison website, has estimated the current salaries of 24 of the most iconic characters in film and TV in its new “Famous Houses – Fiction vs. Reality” game, to see if their pay packets could buy them an average-priced property in London, a city that’s well known for its pricey property.
London currently has an average property price of around £463,000. To afford a London home at this price tag, a person spending 30% of their income each month on home loan repayments (assuming they’d already saved a 20% deposit) would need to earn at least £74,544 per year.
Who could afford London property from the game?
- Don Draper from Mad Men has an estimated salary of £313,281 so he would be more than ok with settling into London life comfortably.
- Tony Stark from Iron Man would also have no problem getting himself on the property ladder with a salary of £175,253.
