City break – Copenhagen

family friendly travellingWhilst Copenhagen might not be your first thought for a family friendly holiday, you would be surprised by just how much it has to offer.

Denmark’s capital keeps the Nordic spirit alive and is perfect for a family looking for adventure and excitement.

Discover the beauty of the Blue Planet National Aquarium, come face to face with exotic animals from around the globe at Copenhagen Zoo or stargaze in awe in IMAX 3D at the Tycho Brahe Planetarium.

If you get through all those, checkout Legoland’s Billund Resort and enjoy the rides, activities and puzzles on offer.

Or, you could visit the enchanting Tivoli Gardens amusement park. A wonderland of architecture, fairy lights and fairground rides, Tivoli’s nostalgic park, built in 1843, offers everything from picnic sites to thrill-rides that are sure to give the kids memories to cherish.

Costa Rica Vacation

Costa RicaAre you looking for a trip that will be full of safe and easy activities for the whole family, while still enjoyable and exciting? A Costa Rica vacation is something to consider.

With kid friendly activities like zip-lining, rappelling and snorkeling there is excitement to be had by all. During down time, enjoy the beautiful beaches and views of nature all around you.  Go on a hike through the rainforest, or take some surfing lessons. Costa Rica family vacations are more affordable than you might think, and they are well worth the memories.

Beach break – Brittany

If it’s a beach break you’re after you should check out Brittany, which has the longest stretch of coastline in France for you to enjoy.family friendly travelling

Plus it’s not far away, so you won’t have to worry about putting the kids through a tediously long flight. In fact, if you’re nervous about flying you can just get a ferry and then drive your way to the Emerald Coast.

It’s a good idea to bring a car so you can do more than chill out on the beach. There are marketplaces, castles and forts all perfect for you and your family to explore.

Staycation – Devon

5 family friendly travelling destinationsThe ‘staycation’ is a choice ever more popular among us Brits, often proving to be the most affordable and practical way for us to getaway.

If you’re thinking of a staycation, then we recomend Devon which has both stunning beaches and areas of outstanding natural beauty. It’s hard to think of a better way to spend a holiday than having a family picnic in Dartmoor, going down a cycle trail or exploring some of the historical sites, such as Killterton House and Powerham Castle.

Plus, with the money you save on travel, you might be able to splash out a little more on accommodation and get yourself a really nice country cottage to stay in or, for something a little different, a glamping pod.

All-inclusive – Portugal

MoneyMagpie_Portugal-SeaIf meticulously planning each step of your family holiday feels a little too overwhelming then why not book an all inclusive? You’ll have everything sorted with just a few clicks of your mouse.

Portugal has great beaches and bays, and there are resorts that offer child-care and entertainment for your children throughout your holiday.

If you feel brave you can venture outside of the resort and explore the seaside towns of Lagos and Albufeira, but you’ll always be safe in the knowledge that the resort is waiting for you should you run out of ideas to keep the family happy.

Wild card: North Wales

North Wales is a place of real natural beauty – waterfalls, beaches, castles and mountains await you. It’s a great destination if you want to stay within the UK – full of sights to see, places to explore and things to do, but not all that far from home!

If you’d like to introduce your family to mountain climbing, Snowdon is a great place to start. They even have a train you can hop on if the kids start to get tired.
You’ll leave North Wales wondering why more people don’t recommend it as a holiday destination!
