Convert your Nectar points into Avios to spend with British Airways or vice versa

Reading Time: 2 mins

You can now convert your Nectar points into Avios to spend with British Airways or vice versa.

This means that for the first time ever, customers can convert the Nectar points they have been collecting at Sainsbury’s, eBay, Argos, Esso and more into Avios to spend on flights, upgrades and more with British Airways. The partnership will turn everyday spending into special travel experiences and help travellers as they think ahead for future trips.

Every 400 Nectar points collected can be converted into 250 Avios – and vice versa – and with just 4,000 Avios needed to get a flight to Amsterdam*, it’s another great way that Nectar customers can be rewarded when they shop.

What’s more, to celebrate the launch, customers who convert a minimum of 1,600 Nectar points in their first conversion by 14 February will be rewarded with a bonus 500 Avios. Customers will also be rewarded with 2x Nectar points on their Sainsbury’s shops until 19 April 2021.

You can also boost your Nectar balance, using the weekly offers in the Nectar app. These include weekly bonus points on the products you buy most at Sainsbury’s, as well as offers from a selection of the 300+ other Nectar partners including fashion, home, travel and business brands.

The new partnership is all about choice, so you can also choose to convert your Avios into Nectar points to spend with Sainsbury’s, Argos, eBay, Café Nero, Sky Store and more.

To convert points, customers can link their Nectar and British Airways Executive Club accounts. Customers who are not existing British Airways Executive Club or Nectar members can join either for free. Customers can link their accounts by visiting either the Nectar website or British Airways Executive Club website. If you don’t have a Nectar card, you can register via nectar.com, via the Nectar app or by picking up a temporary card in a Sainsbury’s store

*points conversion subject to flight availability and off-peak timings. £17.50 required to cover taxes, fees and carrier charges.
