But help is at hand. You may be able to get free insulation for your home due to a government-backed scheme. We reveal the best free insulation opportunities below.
You could save up to £175 a year by insulating your loft and £135 with cavity wall insulation.

We list the best free insulation deals below. As with any deal, make sure you read the small print. In some cases, you may need to pay some of the cost of insulating your home if your house is especially large or an unusual shape.
EON – FREE LOFT AND CAVITY WALL INSULATION, PLUS A £100 CHEQUE TOWARDS ENERGY BILLS
Eon are also offering free loft and cavity wall insulation, as well as a £100 cheque to towards energy bills to some households.
Deal open to: People on incomes of less than £16,190 and in receipt of Child Tax Credit or who are claiming Pension Credit.
Exclusions: Homes that have more than 160mm of loft insulation already in place. Flats, maisonettes and housing association or council tenants are also not eligible.
Deadline: No set deadline but deal may be withdrawn at any time

NPOWER – CHEAP LOFT INSULATION DEAL
npower are also offering free loft and cavity wall insulation.
Deal open to: Anyone who’s in receipt of State Pension Credit or Child Tax Credits (where relevant income is less than £16,190).
Exclusions: Free insulation is subject to a successful survey on your property.
Deadline: Offer may be withdrawn at any time.
GREEN DEAL – CHEAP LOFT INSULATION DEAL
The government is offering a new ‘Green Deal’ initiative to home owners and businesses,
Deal open to: Everyone, subject to assessment.
Exclusions: You will not be expected to pay any upfront costs. Home owners will pay for the work done via the savings they make in lower gas and electricity bills.
Deadline: No set deadline but may be withdrawn at any time.
