Happy holidays at Hoburne

Reading Time: 2 mins

In half term I visited a Hoburne holiday park along with my husband and four children aged eight, six, five and three and weHoburne1 were not disappointed. The park is nestled in the hillside on the Torbay coast smack bang between Torquay and Brixham.

We stayed in a Platinum Static caravan in Heron View which had three bedrooms, two bathrooms, lounge, kitchen/diner and a wrap-around deck. The accommodation was better than some of the nicest hotels we have stayed in and there was ample room for all of us. The caravan featured a state-of-the-art fire, flat-screen TV with DVD player, iPod docking station and dishwasher.

The holiday park is really clean and wheelchair/pushchair friendly, plus there are so many activities available for the children we didn’t know where to start! The kids’ club runs daily with activities in the morning and evening. The club staff were all very enthusiastic about making sure the children were happy and entertained, quite often asking them what they would like to do rather than sticking to the schedule which made them feel very special!Hoburne2

There’s also a heated swimming pool along with water flume which was very popular and only open when  there was an additional lifeguard to supervise it. The changing rooms were always very clean with plenty of lockers and cubicles which made life easy. There’s a huge arcade, adventure playground with separate toddler park, indoor soft play area, bowling alley, mini theatre and AstroTurf along with a nature trail down to Goodrington beach, a golf course and gym. The shops and bars were very well stocked and all reasonably priced.

We ventured out most afternoons and found some of the most beautiful towns in the country. Dartmouth and Brixham, both just a short car ride away are definitely worth a trip. Both have plenty of quaint shops and like us in Brixham you will most likely be fascinated by ‘crabbing’ which is very easy and very addictive. You will need to get the ferry when travelling over to Dartmouth – we did think this was a little Hoburne3pricey, however the alternative is a two-hour drive down tiny country lanes so on balance it’s worth it.

Overall our Hoburne stay was fantastic – the staff couldn’t have done enough to ensure we had the best stay possible, plus all the children said they had a great time and were all very eager to return!

Visit the Hoburne website and book your own happy holiday!
