Isn't it time we stopped this nonsense?
In the UK we throw away 15 million tonnes of food every year. We need to end it.
Freeganism is the practice of taking perfectly edible food that has been thrown out by shops and other food outlets. You would think that no one would worry about someone taking something that has been thrown away but it is actually illegal to do so in the UK. Supermarkets in particular are worried about being sued in case someone gets food poisoning and blames them.
We need to find a way to legalise this practice and protect the food outlets at the same time. As people all round the country are genuinely worried that they may not be able to heat and eat, the least we can do is free up food that would otherwise, literally, go to waste.
So do please sign my petition to
legalise Freeganism and help those who are struggling to get food for the family.
