FREEBIES on Gumtree, Craigslist and Freecycle Gumtree: Just go to the website and under 'Stuff for Sale' click freebies for a list of free things in your area. You will have to collect the items but it's a small price to pay for a free sofa or washing machine! Just click on the items you want then email the owners to organise a time to collect - but be quick as they tend to go quickly. You can also try posting an ad of your own saying what items you need and someone might get in touch. Freecycle: This is another way to get free items that people are throwing out. Go the website where you sign up for free and join a Freecycle network near you. You can brows e the networks by your region here. Once you become a member of a local group you can view the items being given away and post your own items. Everything posted must be free, legal and appropriate to all ages. Craigslist: This is similar to the other two and lets you get your hands on stuff other people are getting rid of. Click on the Great Britain menu then choose your nearest city. Look on the 'for sale' menu for the 'free' option and see all the items that are available to you for no money. All you have to do is pick it up. People often use the site when they are moving house so are keen to shift stuff as soon as possible. FREE phone directory enquiries If you need to find phone numbers and don't want to pay use this number - 0800 100 100 - from a landline and listen to a short add after they have found the number you need but before they give you the number. FREE smoke alarms When you book a free Home Fire Safety Visit from your local Fire and Rescue Service, you'll get free smoke alarms fitted in your house as part of the visit. Great for your bank balance and your piece of mind. FREE brochures For some written advice to help you through all those financial quagmires, you don't even have to sign up for anything. Just give them your address so they can send them to you and remember to untick the boxes if you don't want any additional info. To get some free advice, click here. FREE discounts and vouchers |
