Brand Alley and Cocosa are both well worth checking out as they sell excess inventory and end of season stock for leading designer labels so you won’t necessarily get the latest lines but you’ll be saving yourself a wad of cash. Be warned, however, they do tend to send a lot of emails so set up a separate email account if this bothers you.

5. Swap Shop

This is a really great way of updating your wardrobe without spending a penny! You can even host your own party from the comfort of your own home. Simply go through your wardrobe and pick out any clothes you no longer wear, ask your friends to do the same and bring them all together to swap them with other people!

8. Charity shop chic

Scouring through the rails of charity shops in posh areas is the easiest way to find the best clobber. Find all the second-hand shops near you here – just click on your region and it will bring up a list of shops near you.
