If you are thinking about selling you home, or you are already in the process of moving, you’ll want to get as much money as possible from a buyer which means increasing the value of your home should be a priority.

But finding the money to make major upgrades can be difficult to come by, as a new kitchen or bathroom could cost over £15k.

Luckily, there are a number of things that you can do to increase the value of your home without paying through the nose.

Here are five things that will help you increase the value of your home for under £100.

Use vertical space more effectively

increase value of home

Wall space is one of the biggest unused areas in a home, so making the most of it can have a truly transformative effect on its value and appearance.

Instead of having a TV’s on a stands, buy wall mounts for all all of the screens in your home and fix them to walls.

This will provide much more room throughout your home while making it feel modern and stylish.

The room beneath the TV could be used with more effect by placing house plants or a fixed cupboard which will increase the value of a home even more.

Update fixtures

The lighting and fixtures in a home may not be the biggest factors when the value of a home is considered, however, updating them will definitely make a difference, especially if done right.

Minimalistic and none obtrusive fixtures are the best way to go as the last thing you want is a potential buyer to dislike your personal style and think that they will have to pay to replace them completely.

Investing a small amount in new plain fixtures, lamp shades and energy saving bulbs could make a big difference to a potential buyer as small details like this are the things that get noticed.

Invest in mirrors

Mirrors can be bought for a relatively small amount of money but can add a huge amount of value if placed correctly.

Mirrors naturally add light and a sense of added space to a room if they are placed next to windows, so when a potential buyer or surveyor comes to look at your house.

Remember to open up all of the windows in your home and polish all of the new mirrors to get maximum effect!

Clear as much clutter as possible

Getting rid of the clutter in your home is something that can earn you money and increase the value of your home so it’s a no brainer.

The more you remove from your home, the fresher and cleaner it will appear to somebody viewing the house so do your best to either move clutter to a place that is out of sight or get rid of it completely by selling it on eBay or Gumtree.

Repaint using light colours

If your home has dark wall paint or highly decorative wallpaper, this will have a negative impact on the value of the property.

Dark paints are harder to cover as more layers will be needed to cover them, while highly decorative wallpaper, is unlikely to match the style of the buyer, despite how much you may like it.

The truth is, the more bare and clean the interior of a home looks, the better it is.

Think of it like the canvas of a painting, would you prefer to buy a blank one so that you can create your own image? Or buy one with paint all over it that you have to remove?
