That’s terrible!!! Name and shame, that’s what I say. Hopefully someone will be able to help you out here, because it sounds like your employer is out-of-order!
I don’t want to name them because obviously I want to keep my job, and I’m grateful to even be working at the moment, but wanted to make sure this was legal.
